Jane loves letterpress. The embossed designs and the slight variation of the ink cover give each piece a unique and rich look.  Ever since receiving a stunning letterpress wedding invitation from her fancy friend in Los Angeles she has been searching for the perfect paper to use for her letterpress range and for the best letterpress printers in the UK.  Now she has found both.

Produced on Crane’s 100% cotton paper, the correspondence cards (148 mm x 105 mm) are soft and luxurious to touch and even nicer to write on with your fountain pen. The 300gsm weight is sturdy, without being obnoxiously heavy.  The writing paper (148 mm x 210 mm) is in a delicate 115gsm weight and is just as soft.  Matching envelopes are made of the same paper in a 115gsm stock. The paper comes in two colors: fluorescent white and pearl.  Tissue lined envelopes are available for an additional charge. 

Jane found the most dedicated group of printers with a reckless enthusiasm for letterpress. Based in Hertfordshire, our printers use the traditional Heidelberg press which dates from the 1800s.  

The designs from the top are: Family Card, Modern Man Card, Anniversary Card. The photographer is coming today to take the Press family portrait for this year’s Christmas card.  Yes, it is only August but Jane couldn’t resist capturing the bronze tan and healthy glow from her summer holiday.  Children are in their matching Rachel Riley outfits and husband has deigned to comb his hair. Raining in London this summer? Jane wouldn’t know.  With children, nanny and blackberry addict husband in tow Jane has been traveling to Eze, Martha’s Vineyard and Maui, visiting friends in their summer homes. Being the perfect guest Jane brought a stash of hostess gifts from her letterpress note caddy collection.

Jane recently flew to New York City to have brunch with her good friend Sarah who lives right down the street from her in London. A long trip to meet her neighborhood girlfriend, but well worth it to be able to chat free from kids and enjoy a maniacal shopping spree.  Jane was about to order a bottle of champagne to go along with her $1000 omelette at Norma’s  when Sarah dropped the bomb: she is pregnant with child number three!  

With hopes of a boozy afternoon dashed, they wandered through Tribeca picking up colourful and hip (yet pregnancy friendly) clothes at Calypso, Sorelle Firenze and, Jane’s favorite, Steve Alan.  They also couldn’t resist dropping more than a few pounds on frocks for the future princess at Bu and the Duck and Babesta.  All of this shopping was interspersed with gabbing about the new household staff Sarah will need to manage three monsters.  

Back in London Jane was frantically planning the baby shower, poring over Jane Press shower invitations and guest lists. Given how popular Sarah is with the school run crowd Jane decided it would be best to host two events.  Sarah’s craving for ice cream became the theme for the first shower. Fortnum & Mason’s scrumptious Parlour Restaurant was the obvious event venue. As a theme for gifts, Jane would ask the ladies to bring anything that would help Sarah lose her post preggo bulge! (Must remind ladies to put their low carb diets on hold for the afternoon!)

Frankly, through all of this Jane couldn’t help thinking to herself : Better her than me!

Jetting into Heathrow this morning, Jane was depressed to see the grey skies of London after spending a decadent weekend in sun-splashed Palm Springs, California where lemon yellow was THE color. The perfect inspiration for her next stationery range.

The uber-fashionable Viceroy Hotel provided the perfect backdrop for this three day birthday party hosted by a bi-coastal bachelor with a Facebook friendlist in excess of 1,000. Interior designer Kelly Weartsler transformed this 1930s resort hotel into an ode to Hollywood Regency style with super glamourous black, yellow, slate grey and white combinations. Flocked wallpaper combined with black and white checkered furniture and grass green coloured tiles made the space fresh, elegant and utterly stylish. Real lemon trees studded the grounds and bright yellow zinnia bouquets floated in the pools. Ahh, California!

Of course, Jane didn’t have time to shop for a party dress before leaving London so top LA designer Trina Turk had a selection of frocks delivered to the hotel. The vivid yellow, grey and white theme continued in Trina’s a-line dresses and miniskirts . The bright California prints were perfect for the party’s sixties theme and putting them on made Jane feel like a TOTAL beach girl.

The host followed the color theme throughout the party by using chunky yellow bracelets as napkin rings and elaborate black candelabra centre pieces. It wasn’t long before dinner turned into a lemon caipirinha  fueled dance frenzy in a foam-filled garden where all you could see was the occasional flash of yellow napkin ring (the foam thing is a story for another time). Jane ended up rinsing off in the hot tub with fellow revelers before retiring in a cozy white bathrobe to her spacious villa to gossip with the gals about the weekends events.

The party is over, the plane has landed and Jane has to get home to apply her Talika eye mask and get to work on her Palm Springs Stationery collection. Who wouldn’t love to receive a bright yellow ray of sunshine in the mail?

This collection consists of two different sized notecards, 12 cm x 9 cm and 15 cm x 10.5 cm and matching calling cards, 8.5 cm x 5 cm. They are flat printed on 300 gsm paper. There are a range of 10 different patterns and numerous colourways from which to choose.  The notecards can be printed with your return mailing address on the back or you can choose from a selection of cheeky quips if you want to make a statement.
